Aaron George awarded prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship for pursuing MPhil at University of Cambridge
Sep 2010; Aaron Joseph George, 24, has received the prestigious Commonwealth Cambridge Scholarship award to study at the University of Cambridge. He is among the 30 students from across the world admitted to pursue an M.Phil course in 'Technology Policy' starting this October. A graduate in Mechanical Engineering from College of Engineering Thiruvananthapuram, Aaron is an entrepreneur. He has been the chief executive of Velozeta (www.velozeta.com), a technology innovation company that he started during his engineering college days.
Prof. Tim Unwin, the Honorable Chairman of Commonwealth Scholarship Commission gave the Scholarship Certificate to Mr Aaron. Receiving the award Aaron said, “I feel extremely fortunate and proud, and consider the award as notable recognition by the University of Cambridge and the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission. The award will allow me to continue in full force to contribute to my country’s development using innovative technology solutions”
Aaron’s father Mr. Nellikunnath George was Administrator of Oxfam the UK based international development agency and mother Gigi is of Naduvileparampil family in Kuttanad. His only sister Trissia is a MBBS student.
Aaron is awarded the Scholarship by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission of the United Kingdom which is responsible for managing Britain’s contribution to the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan. CSFP is an international programme under which member governments offer scholarships to citizens of other Commonwealth countries. The Plan was established at the first Commonwealth education conference in 1959 and is the only scholarship scheme in the world to receive such high level recognition
